Find locum work near you

LocumNow is free for locums. Practices near you post shifts and you choose which ones to take. You keep the full rate you agree with the practice.

Who can join

Seven kinds of locum.

Doctors, dentists, physiotherapists, nurses, pharmacists, optometrists and receptionists.

Send your documents once

Upload your ID, council registration, indemnity and qualification. A reviewer checks them against the official registers.

Practices see that you have been checked, not your certificates. You can add up to three documents of your own, like a reference letter or an immunity record.

Receptionists send an ID and a reference letter or CV instead.

Tick the work you do

Each profession has its own list of skills. A doctor might tick general practice, emergency centre work and minor procedures.

You only see shifts that match your skills. Some skills, like anaesthetics or sedation, need a certificate before you can be booked for them.

Choosing work

Work when it suits you.

Nothing is booked until you accept it.

Short-notice work

Switch on short-notice availability when you are free, and practices nearby can ask you to cover the same day. It switches off by itself after four hours.

Planned shifts

Set your usual days and how far you will travel. Apply for shifts posted by practices, or accept requests from practices that already know you.

Practices you know

Practices can add you to their Cover Circle, so you hear about their shifts first. You can see each practice's rating from other locums.

On the day

Know where you're going before you get there.

Handover pack

Once a booking is confirmed you can read the practice's handover pack: where to park, who to ask for, which clinical system they use and where the emergency equipment is.

Door codes and Wi-Fi passwords appear on your phone when you check in.

Checking in

  • Check in and out on your phone when you arrive and leave
  • Your location is only taken at those two moments, never during the shift
  • If GPS is poor inside the building, add a short note and check in anyway
Getting paid

Your invoice is written for you.

Invoices

When the practice approves your hours, LocumNow writes the invoice, numbered with your initials. You can see when each one is due.

The practice pays you directly and marks the invoice paid. You confirm when the money arrives. LocumNow never takes anything from your rate.

Ratings

After each shift you rate the practice and the practice rates you. Neither of you sees the other's rating until you have both rated, or 14 days have passed.

Joining is free

Have your ID, your council registration number and your indemnity certificate to hand when you sign up.
